Applying Transitions to Multiple Clips in One Track One of the key limitations in Final Cut Pro is that you can apply only one transition to one edit point on one track at a time. Beyond the manual There is a way to apply the same transition to a range of edit points on the same track all at once. 1. Build a sequence in the Timeline, making sure that all your clips have handles. Remember, without handles (that is, extra video before the In and after the Out), you can't add a transition to anything. 2. Move the playhead to the beginning of the clips to which you want to add transitions. Moving the playhead is a key step. 3. Select all the clips to which you want to add the default transition (see Figure 2 Position the playhead at the beginning of the sequence and select all the clips to which you want to add the transition.). Remember, unless you change it, the default video transition is a 30-frame cross-dissolve. This means that if you select an edit point, you can use one of Larry Jordan's favorite keyboard shortcuts, Cmd-T, to apply this default transition automatically. Click the Effects tab in the Browser -> Twirl down Video Transitions > Dissolves. The current default transition is underlined -> Once you have the transition selected and the length correct, select Effects > Video Transitions > Set Default. The underline indicates that the transition you selected is now your default transition. You can follow a similar procedure to change the default audio transition. My default audio transition is a four-frame cross-fade (+3 db). Set it by choosing Effects > Audio Transitions > Set Default. You can apply this transition to a selected audio edit point by pressing Option-Cmd-T.
Drag all the clips up to the Canvas and drop them on the red Overwrite with Transition overlay (as shown in Figure 3 Drag the selected clips to the Canvas and drop on the Overwrite with Transition overlay). All your clips are immediately edited back to the Timeline, starting at the position of the playhead, with the default transition applied between clips. All your clips are immediately edited back to the Timeline, starting at the position of the playhead, with the default transition applied between clips (see Figure 4 Every clip has the default transition applied automatically). Clay Wright, from Desert Gem Productions Inc. Q"I have a PVV3. Ch 1&2 pots are not adjustable. The camera generates tone, but when set to manual turning them all the way up - or all the way down has no effect on levels. Ideas?" A Tone levels are set internally during calibration, and this level is not controllable through the external volume controls. These controls are for outside inputs into either CH1 or CH2 connections.
